Happy days as henry finally lands accolade
HENRY Winkler finally won an Emmy 40 years after his first nomination and delivered an acceptance speech of which The Fonz would have been proud.
Decades after the Happy
Days star was lauded for his portrayal of Arthur
Fonzarelli in the ‘70s sitcom, he lifted the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a
Comedy Series gong for his role of Gene
Cousineau in Barry.
“I only have 37 seconds, I wrote this 43 years ago,” Winkler said after the audience gave him a standing ovation.
He then quoted something that Hollywood attorney Skip Brittenham once told him: Winkler said: “If you stay at the table long enough, the chips come to you and tonight I got to clear the table.”
A long overdue win for a man who must be one of the nicest in showbusiness I’ve ever met.
