Tragic pilot Dara’s sister pays tribute
Dara Fitzpatrick A SISTER of Rescue 116 captain Dara Fitzpatrick paid tribute on social media to the tragic pilot on her birthday.
Niamh Fitzpatrick shared a picture of her sibling smiling in a cockpit with the caption: “Our lovely Dara would’ve been 47 today.
“She packed a lifetime into her short years, approaching life with determination and courage.
“She truly lived, loved & made a difference in this world. So you might raise a cuppa or glass and remember Dara today.”
The entire Rescue 116 crew of four were killed last March after their helicopter clipped Blackrock Island off the coast of Mayo.

People Before Profit TD Gino Kenny has called for social media companies to bring in policies to tackle online harrassment and for schools to introduce an education programme. The party also said a tax should be imposed on these firms and ringfenced for the provision of child and adolescent mental health services. Mr Kenny added: “Legislation alone is not going to solve bullying, it’s a societal problem.
“The social media companies need to face up to the fact it is their responsibility to prevent this.”
