Sheer anger at Westlife
Kian, Nicky, Mark and Shane
AS readers of this column will be well aware I’m not an Ed Sheeran fan but this week he’s sunk even further in my estimation.
The Ginger Whinger has only gone and persuaded Westlife to reform and they’ve announced they’ll inflict a tour on the world next summer. Bad and all as Ed is, at least there’s only one of him, there’s four of them in Westlife and not an instrument (I was going to say note) between them as they bang out glorified karaoke your grandmother would wince at.
Some years ago the EU had a practice of paying cash to farmers for not producing food, could a similar programme not be introduced for certain types of music? MICHAEL Lowry was among the 12 TDS who voted “No” when the second stage of the Bill to legalise abortion came before the Dail on Tuesday evening. It was passed by 102 votes to 12 with seven abstentions.
Deputy Lowry obviously sees this as a matter of conscience even though Tipperary voted 59% in favour of repealing the Eighth Amendment. It’s hard to square someone voting against women’s reproductive rights when they’ve gone to extraordinary lengths to dodge their taxes and corruptly helped a rich businessman secure a valuable State licence.
Still it’s refreshing to see a politician with conviction, even if it’s a criminal one.
