Raging you missed the ADE conference in Amsterdam? Fret not, here’s the low-down from last week’s antics. On Saturday last week I spent a few hours with Joey Negro (inset) at ADE after his gig in Studio K (his interview airs this Monday night on RTE Pulse) and we chatted about the making of Remixed With Love part 3, which is on pre order, and how he goes about sourcing all the original parts for the songs he had chosen to remix, in some case 40 or more years after they had been originally released.

The Remixed With Love series has seen some of the classic soul and disco era tracks re done using the original parts but extended to be more dance floor friendly, such as Love Ballad by George Benson to more unusual choices like the monstrous revival of Christopher Cross Ride Like The Wind and part 3 is no exception.

Joey Negro has literally gone right back to the basic elements of these tracks and re built them in a way that only he can.

No doubt several of them will get an airing tonight when he plays Button Factory in Dublin as we kick off the Halloween bank holiday break.

Tickets €15 and doors at 11pm.

Continuing the disco vibes, The Reflex makes an appearance at Tengu tonight along side Kelly Anns Byrne and Pablo. Fascinated by the remix from an early age, Londonbased French native Nicolas Laugier, like Joey Negro, takes his cue from the first wave of disco remixers by using only the original sounds from the master tapes (or stems) to breathe new life into soul, pop and disco classics.

Imaginative arrangements, box-fresh sonics and intricate editing make The Reflex one of the remix originals on the scene today.

Yamamori Temgu tonight with tickets there also €15 and doors 11pm.

Sunday sees Greg Wilson headline Pyg’s Townhouse of Horrors across the entire Powerscourt area with a strong line up with Wilson doing a three hour set in the Powerscourt area which Deece and myself look after the vaults.

Mix and Fairbanks also on the bill with Kildare duo complimenting Greg Wilson’s style perfectly. Colin Perkins and Jordan are also spinning the jams with fancy dress encouraged but not mandatory, tickets €25.
