Fangtastic night as thousands brave the cold for Halloween
Film fans dress up for screenings TRICK or treaters came to life around the country to celebrate the spookiest night of the year.
Halloween costumes ranging from scary to spectacular were on show, with kids having a fangtastic time.
And it was particularly chilling last night with the wintry weather plunging below zero.
Dozens of family-friendly fireworks displays lit up the skies across Ireland while in Cork city The Dragon of Shandon roamed the streets for its 13th year accompanied by floats and incredible costumes.
On what is always one of the busiest days of the year for firefighters, they dealt with bonfires as well as other incidents not related to Halloween from early in the day. A pyre in Tallaght was put out at midday while Dublin Fire Brigade also attended blazes in Kilbarrack, Santry and Ringsend.
Crews also ran a hugely successful map for live fires, which allowed viewers to see what bonfires in the capital had been reported.
And they were quick to get into the spirit on social media, urging people to “do the Neymar” if they find themselves catching fire.
While having a playful dig at the Brazilian footballer, the Irish capital’s fire service advised people who end up in difficulty to “stop, drop and roll” to smother any flames. It tweeted a video of the footballer writhing on the ground in slow motion.
