Deal with BT gives customers access to more big matches
Liverpool v Man City on Sky IRISH Sky TV customers will be able to watch hundreds more sporting events thanks to a new deal with BT Sports.
From next summer, a Sky subscription will also give viewers here access to BT’S coverage of 180 Premier League games.
Sports fans will also be able to take in the Champions League, Europa League and Heineken Champions Cup rugby.
Currently Irish viewers have to pay a separate subscription for BT Sports if they don’t have the bundle offered by Eir.
However, the new deal means anyone with a Sky subscription can access BT Sports with no extra charge.
The move has been called a “long-term extension and expansion” of a wider deal announced for the UK market last December.
Sky Ireland’s managing director JD Buckley welcomed the partnership that will be in place for the start of the Premier League’s 2019/20 season. He said: “This is fantastic news for Sky customers in Ireland who will now be able to access all matches on Sky and BT channels from the Premier League, Champions League and Heineken Champions Cup rugby directly with a single Sky TV subscription.”
BT’S Marc Allera added: “This extension of our partnership with Sky is great news for our customers and is part of our commitment to provide our customers with the best service and content available.
“As part of this deal, Sky customers in Ireland will get access to great BT Sport content and BT TV customers in the UK will be able to seamlessly watch and record their favourite NOW TV channels.”
