The Ryder Cup hero is back at the Turkish Airlines Open to defend his title, where victory would be enough to dethrone Brooks Koepka.
But he believes Woods’ influence has provided golf with incredible strength in depth.
Rose (above) said: “I think we are seeing the Tiger effect. Jordan Spieth, Justin Thomas etc. coming through to the top of the game having been influenced so much by him.
“The strength and depth now is pretty impressive. It’s nip and tuck. To see someone be No.1 for two, three years might be tricky.”
RUGBY UNION GETHIN JENKINS admits rugby’s brutal nature has finally taken its toll. Wales’ most capped player called time on his illustrious career yesterday with three Six Nations Grand Slams and three Lions tours on his CV. Jenkins (below) won 129 Wales caps and five for the Lions over 14 years and bows out on Sunday for Cardiff against Zebre. “Players are looking after themselves more but the game is also taking its toll on the body,” said the 37-year-old. “I’m not sure if the new era will last as long into their careers as I have. The game has changed and training needs have gone up quite a bit. My mind has said I want to keep going but unfortunately my knee is not agreeing.”
