Wind warning issued as Oscar blasts coastline

Hundreds of staff members at the Dublin base downed tools for 30 minutes.

The global company said last week it fired 48 employees in the past two years, including 13 senior executives, as a result of sexual harassment claims.

It came days after it emerged Android creator Andy Rubin left the firm in 2014 with a €79million payout despite being accused of misconduct from a female employee.

The alert was issued yesterday afternoon and will be in place for counties Donegal, Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Clare and Kerry from today at 3pm until 12pm tomorrow. It has been an extremely cold week so far but the weather is set to pick up for the weekend.

A spokesman said: “Frost and any fog patches will clear during this morning and it will be dry and bright in most areas.

“Cloud will increase from the Atlantic, bringing outbreaks of Sundar Pichai rain to west and southwest coasts by afternoon, extending gradually eastwards across the country during the afternoon and evening.

“Southerly winds will gradually strengthen, becoming strong and gusty in Atlantic coastal areas. Cold at first, but becoming mild later with maximum afternoon temperatur­es 7C to 12C. Saturday will be cloudy and with rain turning heavy before clearing to scattered showers and winds decrease fresh to strong southweste­rly with the clearance.

“It will be a mild day with top temperatur­es of 15C. Sunday will be dull or cloudy with a few brief sunny spells and scattered showers near coastal counties.”
