Casey blasts Tubridy over ‘patronising’ TV interview
Sean Casey PETER Casey yesterday slammed Ryan Tubridy as “unprofessional”, claiming he “behaved so patronising throughout” his Late Late Show appearance.
The businessman, who was interviewed by the RTE presenter last Friday, secured almost 343,000 (23%) first-preference votes to come second in the presidential vote.
But the Co Derry-born candidate lashed out yesterday when he spoke about his treatment during the Late Late, claiming it was “insulting”.
Mr Casey said: “He [Tubridy] was so unprofessional how he behaved and so patronising throughout.
“It shocked me to be quite honest, I really felt he was supposed to be impartial; he was supposed to be professional.
CONTRAST
“Such a big contrast to the reasonable, very pleasant, friendly person in the green room.”
The multi-millionaire was heavily criticised during the final two weeks of the presidential campaign when he claimed Travellers are not an ethnic minority, don’t pay enough tax and camp on other people’s land.
And the 61-year-old, who is currently in India, told Niall Boylan on Classic Hits yesterday he plans to get a DNA test to see if he has any connection to the Travelling community.
He said: “One of the things I am going to do, and you heard it here first Niall, I am going to have a DNA test done when I get back and see exactly [what is] my ethnic background.”
RTE were contacted and asked if they wanted to respond to Mr Casey’s comments yesterday but a spokesperson for the broadcaster declined the request.
