Paisley recall sites ‘did not affect result’

Ian Paisley MP OPENING additional poll centres for Ian Paisley’s parliament­ary recall petition would not have altered the result, a watchdog has found.

The DUP man kept his North Antrim seat after less than 10% of voters signed their support for a by-election in September.

He was the first MP to face the petition after being banned from the House of Commons over a lobbying scandal.

The Electoral Office was pressed on why it only operated three centres when 10 were permitted.
