Oldest animal painting find
Cave art THE earliest known cave painting of an animal has been identified in Borneo.
Using scientific dating, experts gave it a minimum age of 40,000 years old.
While they are not certain what creature it represents, it is thought to be a banteng – a wild cow.
The artwork was found in the remote mountains of East Kalimantan.
Prof Francesco d’errico, of University of Bordeaux, France, said: “It’s a major archaeological discovery.”
