Allen shines in win over Robertson
MARK Allen stormed into the Champion of Champions semi-finals with a potting masterclass.
The Antrim man made three century breaks as he hammered Neil Robertson 6-1 last night at the Coventry Ricoh Arena.
And with victory the new International Championship winner set-up a mouthwatering showdown with English young gun Kyren Wilson tomorrow.
Allen beat Aussie ace Robertson 10-5 in China last Sunday to pocket £170,000.
And the world No7 took a step closer to a £100,000 pay day if he can win two more matches at this year’s prestigious invitational event.
Breaks of 119, 102, 123, 98 and 75 saw Allen dominate from start to finish. He said: “I played really well, I scored heavily. I felt like I was going to the clear the table every time I got in.
“I’m riding the crest of a wave at the minute. I’m enjoying it.”
Robertson was left to reflect on another defeat to his fellow left-hander.
Earlier in the day Allen turned on the style as he fought back from 2-1 down to beat Barry Hawkins 4-2 in his first round match.
Hawkins had breaks of 87 and 94, but Allen sparkled with runs of 140, 102 and 86.
