IT’S SWAN HELL OF A WAR ZONE

- BY JAMES CANDY

SWANSEA manager Graham Potter has been shocked by the physicality of the Championship.

The former England Under-21 international has steadied the ship since arriving from Swedish side Ostersunds.

But he believes some of the brutal tackling is stopping his free-flowing Swans from flying up the table.

“I have come in after being in a different country for the last seven years and some of the tackles I have seen in the Championship would be yellow or red cards in Europe,” said Potter (above).

“You want that commitment and passion, but the safety of the players is very important. We have to be brighter in anticipating tackles and then hope the referee makes sure any challenges are legal. Then there are no complaints.”

Swansea could welcome back Wilfried Bony, out for nine months with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.
