I’m Gavin Xmas dinner at home

- BY KATIE GALLAGHER

SINGER Gavin James said he has cancelled gigs to make sure he’s back in his hometown for Christmas.

The 27-year-old songwriter from Dublin admitted he does everything he can to get home for the holidays.

Speaking at the launch of Cadbury’s Secret Santa alongside his dad Gerry Wigglesworth he said: “I’d never not be home. I have to be. I’ve turned down gigs in the past because of getting home.

“It wouldn’t feel right not being in Dublin for Christmas. It’s so nice to be home.”

Gavin, who described his dad as his biggest supporter, added he is hoping to change his family tradition this year in an attempt to convert his parents to Harry Potter fans.

He explained: “We watch Elf every year, but I am trying to change the tradition this year.

“I’m trying to watch Harry Potter from the start because my mam and dad haven’t seen any of it. I can’t wait.

“So I am going to try and get that started just because I am mad about it.”

Gavin, who will also headline the year’s

New Year’s Festival in Dublin, said: “I’m off for a little bit afterwards so I’ll be able to get a little bit tipsy, not too crazy.

“There’s nothing worse starting off the new year hungover, but I may as well.” Gerry and Gavin yesterday
