‘OUR FAULT WE CAN’TGO FOYTH’
MAURICIO POCHETTINO admits Spurs share a collective blame for the gaffe which means rising star Juan Foyth can’t play against Inter Milan tonight.
The 20-year-old Argentina defender, outstanding against
Chelsea last weekend, was left out of
Tottenham’s Champions
League squad in August.
But Pochettino said:
“It’s in the club’s hands, not just mine. We share the responsibility.
“If not it looks like the bad things are the gaffer and the good things we share all together.
“And when something wrong happens, it’s
Mauricio Pochettino, the coach.”
Foyth, signed in August
2017, was fit at the time of his omission three months ago.
He has since left the north Londoners – beaten at Inter in September and held at PSV Eindhoven last month – bitterly regretting the decision.
Pochettino (below) added: “I am so disappointed because not only Juan, but GK – winger Georges-kevin N’koudou – and Vincent Janssen are out of the squad too.
“It’s so painful but it’s the decision we made. For different reasons we need to fix it before the start of the second phase.
“If you find my speech before the season I was so disappointed because the squad was big.
“Some players had to be out of the list.
“We needed English players. I hope we can include him in March.”
