Child killer Black died of heart attack
Robert Black SERIAL child killer Robert Black died from a heart attack, an inquest jury has confirmed.
The 68-year-old was found dead in his cell in Maghaberry Prison in Co Antrim in January 2016.
He murdered four girls – including nine-year-old Jennifer Cardy, from Ballinderry, in 1981.
Jurors found he had died from a cardiac arrest, with degeneration of the walls of the coronary artery a secondary cause.
Underlying factors included his age, his smoking and diet, high blood pressure, a previous stroke and diabetes.
Jurors found no defects in his treatment by the authorities.
Coroner Mcgurgan told the hearing in Armagh no family members could be traced to attend.
