Lapland? It’s not real place

Irish Daily Mirror - - THE SOCIAL MEDIA -

NEARLY a third of us think Lapland is a fictional place, a poll has found.

Just 22% of 2,000 adults know that Lapland is in northern Finland and parts of Norway, Sweden and Russia.

One in 10 had to check online to find out whether it existed, while a similar number believe the “home of Santa” covers only Iceland and Greenland.

A fifth think it is a country in its own right, according to the poll by travel company TUI.
