Kinahan thug found dead in balcony fall

Spanish cops rule it an accident

- BY NIALL O’CONNOR

SPANISH police have ruled out foul play in the death of a Kinahan associate in a balcony death plunge.

Michael “Mikey” Cumberton plummeted from a high-rise apartment complex in a late-night accident.

His brother, convicted Kinahan killer Eamonn Cumberton, is serving life for the feud-related slaying of dissident member Michael Barr in the Sunset House pub, Dublin.

Michael fled to Spain after receiving a GIM (Garda Information Message) warning his life was in danger.

However, a number of sources have told the Irish Mirror Spanish cops do not think the incident was suspicious.

One said: “They have closed the case and they believe it was an accident.

“They will do a postmortem to determine if there were drugs involved but for the time being it has been ruled as an accident.

“The Spanish authorities have alerted Irish authorities of the death but there will be no Garda involvement in the death.”

It is believed Michael had been on the run from a dissident death squad in the wake of the Barr murder.

Teresa was also warned her life was under threat from the Hutch side because of Eamonn’s involvement.

She has no connection with the feud or criminality and was only threatened because of the activities of her sons.

It is believed Michael had set up camp in Marbella but was moving around in an effort to prevent a strike against him.

He was working for the Kinahan Organised Crime Group that continues to have significant links to the “costa del crime” hangout.

Daniel Kinahan is presently in Dubai but his operation in Spain carries on.

Eamonn is still a significant target of both the Hutch clan and the violent dissident republican faction.

He is suspected of having worked for the KOCG on a number of occasions and was thought to be paid a six-figure sum for the murder campaign.

He is also a suspect in a failed bid in a pub in Lanzarote when the target Gerry “The Monk” Hutch narrowly avoided being murdered when he spotted the killer approaching.

They have closed the case and there will be no Garda involvement SOURCE
