Garda appeal for witnesses after woman targeted on journey home
THIS is the suspected taxi driver rapist who attacked a woman on her way home from a night out.
Gardai released the photofit as they appealed for witnesses to get in touch.
The sex assault took place in South Dublin in the early hours of December 9.
GARDAI have issued an appeal for witnesses into the alleged taxi driver rape of a woman returning home after a night out.
The horrific incident happened in the early hours of December 9 in South Dublin and it is hoped a photofit picture and CCTV images will help catch the attacker.
A Garda spokesman said: “Gardai in Irishtown are renewing their appeal for witnesses in relation to an investigation of an alleged sexual assault on a woman in the early hours of Sunday morning, December 9.
“The victim was brought from Serpentine Avenue through the city centre to Emmet Street in a white taxi where gardai believe it was parked between 2am to 3am.
“The man is described as between 27 and 35 years old with short black hair and has a beard and was wearing glasses. He was also wearing a short-sleeved shirt.”
Officers are appealing to the public to help track down the man and have revealed where he travelled while allegedly attacking the woman.
The spokesman added: “Gardai wish to make contact with any persons in the Shelbourne Road or Serpentine Avenue area between 12.45am and 2am and also in the Emmet Street area of Dublin 1 from 2am to 3am.
“If any motorists who were in these areas and have dashcam in the vehicles, if they can check their footage and contact investigating gardai.
“Gardai are also appealing to any persons who may have travelled in a white taxi in the early hours of Sunday morning to contact them at Irishtown station on 01 6669600, the confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.”
