Wembley sparks War of words
NEIL WARNOCK has called on the Premier League to make Tottenham finish their season at Wembley.
The Cardiff boss said officials should block all attempts to let Spurs switch to their new stadium before the end of this campaign.
Warnock saw his side lose 3-0 at home to Mauricio Pochettino’s men, but says the competition’s integrity will be compromised if Tottenham move into their new ground.
He feels other clubs who may be involved in a relegation fight with his Bluebirds could benefit from Spurs getting used to a new environment when their rivals have had to face them at full swing at Wembley.
Tottenham’s ill-fated move to their
£850million new home has faced several delays, and
Warnock (right) said: “The league should enforce them to play at Wembley for the rest of the season. They’ve made that many cock-ups now with the timing, the Premier League should force them to play at Wembley. “I don’t think there should be a chance of any advantage to any of our opponents. It’s not our fault. We should have been playing at the new stadium ourselves, so I think they should step in now, rather than be there in six or seven weeks, or whatever it is.
“They should be there until the end of the season, and the league should enforce it now.”
Warnock had no complaints about the result and also refused to be drawn on allegations of bullying made against the club’s under-18s coach Craig Bellamy.
He said it was “very vague” and that Cardiff’s chief executive would be dealing with it. Bellamy has not been suspended.
