THIS is the moment a gunman blasted two takeaway staff in a horrific New Year’s Day shooting.

Dramatic images obtained by the Irish Mirror show the attacker, who had a getaway bicycle, fire several shots during the shocking incident.

A father and son held over the pizzeria shooting in North Dublin have been released from custody.

A man who used to work at Mizzoni’s said: “I am shocked. I called my friend, he’s shot near the kidney.”

A GUNMAN cycles up to a takeaway, fires several shots at the staff and then pedals away on his bike.

The chilling attack by the hooded shooter was captured on CCTV.

Detectives are trying to determine if the incident was a targeted shooting or a botched armed robbery.

A father and son held over the attack on the North Dublin pizzeria have both been released from custody.

The dramatic images obtained by the Irish Mirror last night show the gunman firing wildly into Mizzoni’s takeaway in Edenmore shopping centre in Raheny.

He briefly steps into the entrance before unleashing a volley of shots – but staff inside can be seen throwing objects back at him.

The attacker retreats briefly before grabbing his bike and appearing to fire some final shots inside as he flees. The men injured in the incident have been named as cook Vasile Batica and manager Ionut “Johnnie” Dateu.

They were taken to Beaumont Hospital – Vasile suffered an injury to his stomach while Ionut has a chest wound.

Vasile’s friend and former Mizzoni’s colleague Hassan Mahmood told of his shock over Tuesday’s attack at 12.20am.

He said: “I had spoken to him and wished him a happy New Year – then I went to bed and one of the girls rang me to tell me what happened.

“I am very shocked, especially because I was working there before.

“I called my friend and he sent me the picture of him – he is shot near the kidney.

“I have tried to call Vasile but I could only get through on text.

“There has been a lot of trouble in that area before – I had my car window broken and the money was taken.

“Some of the time we would stay in the shop for security.

“I am shocked by what happened – I wasn’t expecting this kind of thing.”

A 16-year-old boy arrested following the shooting was released first and on Wednesday a 44-year-old man was released without charge.

Gardai will now prepare a file for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
