Cagney ‘went mad’ after the death of wife

- BY MIKIE O’LOUGHLIN

Mark Cagney MARK Cagney said he “went mad” following his first wife’s death.

The Ireland AM star broke down on air after diving straight back into work while fronting his 98FM show.

The 63-year-old was able to mask his grief at losing partner Ann to a brain haemorrhage in 1991 thanks to a long music sweep before pulling himself together.

He said: “I went mad. I came back to work for about three weeks and I just couldn’t.”

During the interview on Newstalk, he said: “I finished the programme as normal. I kept it together and I went into the programme director afterwards and said I couldn’t do it anymore.”

TRIBUTES have been paid to a teenager who died in a freak accident just days after Christmas.

Jack Kevitt was remembered at his funeral as someone who “lived life to the full, bringing joy, fun and craic to his family and large circle of friends”.

The popular 17-year-old, from Balbriggan in North County Dublin, died after falling from the roof of a building on December 27 – when a stunt with pals went wrong. Mourners at St Peter and Paul’s Church on Wednesday were told it was “hard to fathom” what parents Sue and Sid are going through after the loss of their only son.

Fr Donal Toal said: “He brought

“It was almost like he was living his life to the full in 17 years before it was cut short for no reason.”
