A CABSOLUTELY SHOCKING FARE

DINGLE, CO KERRY ARTANE, CO DUBLIN

- BY CORMAC O’SHEA

A TAXI passenger forked out almost €700 after clocking up the most expensive cab fare last year, it has been revealed.

The 355km trip from Artane, Co Dublin, to Dingle, Co Kerry, which cost €673.60, was also the longest journey booked from the capital in the past 12 months.

Lynk Taxi also released other wacky facts about its service.

The most famous passenger picked up by the company was Liam Neeson, with the Taken star leaving his driver starstruck when he hopped into the vehicle.

The cheapest fare was €6.30 after a dozy passenger asked a cabbie to bring them from the 3Arena in Dublin to the Gibson Hotel – right next door. Strangely, the weirdest item left behind by a passenger was a Bearded Dragon lizard.

Out of all the odd requests drivers received, collecting a breakfast roll was the most common. On average a fare in Dublin city with Lynk costs €19.20 and the most popular question by customers is “Are CLASS ACT ya busy?” Other conversation starters heard by drivers include “Some weather we’re having” and “Did you watch the match?”

Lynk cabbies have also shared a few secrets of their own.

Their preferred car is a saloon, their top radio station is Sunshine 106.8FM and their favourite restaurant is Passion For Food.

Lynk boss Noel Ebbs said: “We’ve put together a round-up of 2018 to share the information with staff, drivers and customers as a reminder of the fun moments throughout the year.

“Each year brings new challenges but 2018 has been an excellent year for Lynk.”
