CLELIA Murphy has admitted she is the clown of Dancing With The Stars this year and hopes to make viewers laugh with her entertaining moves.

The former Fair City actress told how she was forced to face her fear last weekend for ladies’ night but it paid off and she scored the third highest points.

Clelia, who is best known for her role as Niamh Brennan on the RTE soap, said: “It’s a bit Scary Mary. I keep forgetting it is a competition. I’m just thinking about the steps and not falling over myself.

“I’m battling that inner voice. I know I’ve talked about it before but it’s that anxiety we all have of, ‘You can’t do that’ so you have to say, ‘I haven’t got time for you’ because it isn’t about me, it’s actually about entertaining the audience.

“It is about giving them a good night so I have to get over myself and get out of my own way, give someone a laugh at your expense. That’s the business I’m in.”

The 43-year-old Dubliner also told how her dance partner Vitali Kozmin has been whipping her into shape in rehearsals but the pair get on well.

She added: “He is strict but he is extremely fair so there’s two Vitalis – there’s professional Vitali and then outside Vitali and he is such a sweetheart. He’s a dote.

“So I understand where people say he is kind of scary but that is because he is a professional.”

Last Sunday the judges noted the pair had a great chemistry following their Jive which scored them 19 points.

Clelia said: “There is a really good, healthy and respectful thing going on.

“It’s very weird because you are thrown into a relationship with somebody and you have to get on very quickly and very fast and you have to understand each other’s quirks. I couldn’t of asked for anyone better.”

The mum of one added she has also hit it off with her fellow DWTS competitors and said: “There is something kind of special this year. Everyone is so supportive.”
