OLE: We can go all the way

Solskjaer believes United can go all way in Champions League..like when he got the winner

- BY DAVID MCDONNELL

STAND-IN boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sees no reason why Manchester United cannot WIN the Champions League this season.

He leads United in Europe for the first time tonight in the first leg of their last-16 tie with Paris Saint-germain and reckons his team can spring a major surprise.

Solskjaer famously scored the dramatic late winner for the Reds in the 1999 final to win the Champions League and clinch the Treble. And

he believes the current players have the quality and talent to beat any team and go all the way.

Solskjaer, who has won 10 and drawn one of his 11 games in charge of United, said: “This squad is very capable of winning against any opponents. When we go into games confident as we are, we’re looking forward, but we can’t look too far ahead.

“We have to look to PSG and make sure we go through this one, and then take the next challenge as it comes. But I said to the boys, if we keep working every day in training, we can improve and maybe surprise a few people.”

After PSG, United face Chelsea in the FA Cup and host title contenders Liverpool in the Premier League. But the 45-year-old claims it is too early to suggest the job will be his if he can come through those three intact. “That’s too simple,” he said.

“There are still a few months left of this season to do whatever I can for the club.”
