School shut after hoax bomb alert

St Nathy’s College A SECONDARY school was evacuated yesterday morning due to a hoax bomb alert.

Gardai said the alarm was raised at St Nathy’s College in Ballaghade­rreen, Co Roscommon.

It is understood a number of school buses were told to turn around and bring the students home again after they arrived shortly before 9am.

Hundreds of pupils had been scheduled to sit Junior and Leaving Cert mock examinatio­ns yesterday.

The school, which has almost 700 pupils and dozens of staff, is one of the biggest in Co Roscommon.

Anybody who saw anything suspicious is asked to call gardai.
