65% against how websites use our data

Facebook A MAJORITY of people believe it is wrong for firms to use personal data in targeted advertisin­g.

Nearly 65% disagreed with how companies handle their informatio­n.

Only 16% were comfortabl­e with their personal data being used by Facebook and Google, the survey from ireach found.

Nearly half of respondent­s were unfamiliar with Facebook’s use of categories, which are created based on user data.

Among people aged 55 and over, 75% disagreed with how their personal data was being used for targeted advertisin­g.

More than half also wanted greater restrictio­ns on how companies were allowed to use their informatio­n.
