Appeal after €90k airport drug seizure

Shannon Airport A HUGE haul of cannabis worth an estimated €90,000 was seized at Shannon Airport.

Revenue officers discovered the 4.5kg in a parcel labelled “clothing” last Friday.

The package containing the illicit substance originated in Spain and was destined for an address in Co Carlow.

A spokeswoma­n for the Revenue confirmed investigat­ions were ongoing to hunt down the source of the drugs.

Officials asked any businesses or members of the public with informatio­n regarding drug smuggling to contact Revenue on their confidenti­al phone number 1800 295 295.

Alternativ­ely, people can contact gardai.
