Ringrose in with shout for Rome

- BY MICHAEL SCULLY

GARRY RINGROSE looks set to return for Ireland’s Six Nations clash with Italy on Sunday week but it may be too soon for CJ Stander.

Ringrose is recovering from what Leinster have described as a “slight” hamstring strain that caused the centre to miss Saturday’s victory over Scotland.

He is due to report back to Joe Schmidt’s medical team ahead of the trip to Rome with Chris Farrell – his replacement last week – released to play for Munster against Southern Kings.

No.8 Stander was back training with the Reds yesterday but is unlikely to be involved in Rome due to the facial injury he suffered in the opening defeat to England.

His Munster colleague Tadhg Beirne, who can play second row and back row, also remains a doubt but centre Andrew Conway will be available after also missing out so far with calf tightness.
