Singer’s regret at not finishing degree
HOZIER has revealed he regrets not finishing his psychology degree.
The 28-year-old singer is preparing to release his second album Wasteland, Baby! in the next few weeks.
But speaking on Today FM’S Dermot And Dave Show yesterday, he said: “I’d still go back to college now to be honest.
“I’ve always been annoyed at myself that I never finished third-level Angela Scanlon and Caragh Mckenna, 8, in Dublin yesterday PSYCHED UP education. I was always interested in psychology.
“But I had gotten to a stage where I had written what I thought people might like, and I started writing stuff I liked and wanted to hear and it just so happened the first song I wrote became this big hit.” Hozier, from Bray, Co Wicklow, released new single Almost (Sweet Music) this week – four years after Take Me To Church catapulted him on to the world stage.
And he admitted his meteoric rise to fame had come as a surprise.
The singer said: “I thought I’d be an independent and alternative artist for a while – and stay for a long time.
“I was 23, 24 when it all kicked off. I think it’s true what they say about people who become celebrities, they just stop growing. So if you are 16, you are kind of 16 forever.
“Let’s just say if things exploded for me when I was a teenager, everything for the next few years is just done for you and it can be a weird, stunted kind of growth period. But I was a little bit older.” in that field
