TRIBUTE TO MORRISON

- BY PAT NOLAN

THERE has been an outpouring of emotion across the GAA community following the death of much-travelled football coach John Morrison.

The Armagh native served on a number of counties having managed Antrim as well as being part of coaching tickets in his own county, Derry, Donegal, Mayo, Leitrim and Cavan. More recently, he managed the Monaghan ladies football team.

He was probably best known for his association with Mickey Moran, with whom he took Mayo to an All-ireland final in 2006.

Mayo GAA paid tribute to Morrison, saying: “All involved with Mayo GAA are saddened to hear of the passing of legendary coaching figure John Morrison. He had huge influence on Mayo getting to the All-ireland final in 2006. He’ll be sadly missed by all of those who encountered him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
