Guard against Mullinalaghta Crokes hold..
FIONN FITZGERALD is ‘on guard’ to avoid giant-killers Mullinalaghta taking down another top Crokes side.
Kilmacud Crokes experienced the agony of defeat to the tiny Longford club from the half-parish in December.
Kerry kingpins Dr Crokes are next up for the Leinster champions in Saturday’s All-ireland club semi-finals and former Kingdom defender Fitzgerald said: “We are very much on guard.
“Sometimes you look at the opposition but then you have to ultimately bring it back to yourself.
“You have to look at what you can do well, what have you done before and how have you learned from other games that have gone against you, or gone well, and you try to gather up all those experiences and produce the goods.”
Fitzgerald reckons Mullinalaghta are far more than just mighty minnows though.
He said: “The reality about it is, there is a form line there with Mullinalaghta if you do your homework.
“It’s probably because they beat a big Dublin side, Kilmacud Crokes, that the public perceived it as almost beating Dublin.
“And the Mullinalaghta story of being from a small parish is a big part of it too but they are a very good team, very well coached and they’ve been knocking on the door for a few years now and will be around for a good while. This is not a fluke. It’s serious stuff at this stage.”
