NASH JOINS CORK

-

LIAM NASH has joined Cork City on a permanent deal from Gillingham but Ronan Coughlan has left the Rebels. The 23-year-old striker (above) impressed on trial and said: “It’s brilliant to get finally get it over the line. When I get the opportunity, I’ll take it with both hands. I want to get myself back out there scoring goals.”

City boss John Caulfield said: “Liam is a very good finisher. He knows he needs to come here and get goals.” Coughlan (inset, top) joined the Rebels from Bray Wanderers last summer and is now linked with Derry City.

Caulfield said: “He didn’t get as many games as he would have wished. He is looking to play regularly.

City full-back John Kavanagh has joined Finn Harps on loan until the summer. Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers and Sligo Rovers are still awaiting clearance on respective new strikers.

The Hoops are close to announcing the capture of Austrian trialist Orhan Vojic (inset, bottom) who was most recently with Wolfsburg’s reserves.

Red tape is holding up an announcement of the transfer and Rovers do not expect to have him available for Friday’s league opener away to Waterford.

The Bit O’red have already announced the signing of Nigerian striker Brendan Ogbu but have yet to secure a work permit. He is not in the country and will not be involved in new boss Liam Buckley’s opening game away to champions Dundalk on Friday.
