CALLUM CONNOLLY earned Bolton a first league win of 2019 to give their survival bid fresh hope.

But play-off chasing Birmingham and striker Che Adams endured a frustrating night.

Adams’ hat-trick at QPR on Saturday took him to eight goals in six league games – and 19 this term.

And another goal here would have equalled a 41-year-old club record held by Trevor Francis for scoring in seven successive league games.

But Bolton, with just one win in their previous 21 league matches, stunned Garry Monk’s men.

Blues almost scored when Jota’s second-half shot was tipped on to a post by Remi Matthews. But on-loan Everton ace Connolly (above) headed a vital winner on 71 minutes.
