Woman dies in road crash

AN elderly woman was killed in a road accident yesterday.

The pedestrian, who was in her 60s died after she was hit by a truck in Athy, Co Kildare, at around 2.30pm.

She was treated at the scene at Duke Street by emergency services but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The driver of the truck was uninjured.

Gardai have urged anyone with information to call Athy Garda station.
