Bono’s daughter on Forbes mag’s under 30s list
BONO’S daughter Jordan Hewson compared starting a business to “sprinting a f***ing marathon, if it was also a labyrinth”.
The Columbia University graduate, who launched tech company Speakable in 2016 which promotes social activism, was speaking after featuring in Forbes magazine’s 30 under 30 list.
Praising the eldest child of the U2 rocker and his wife Ali, it said: “Her flagship product, an ‘action button,’ can be embedded in news sites discussing social issues, spurring readers to donate, emails or sign petitions.”
Jordan, 29, said: “I have so much respect for anyone who has [started a business] tried it, failed, succeeded, or even abandoned. So thank you to @forbes for encouraging our work.
“We’re a tiny team fighting for a mega mission. There are days it feels so much bigger than we are and the truth is that it is.
“But I’m so happy that @actionbutton just passed one million actions being taken on world changing headlines.
“Here’s to seeing Action
Button in front of a billion people, to eliminate the friction between their inspiration and the impact inspiration can achieve.” Jordan’s work landed her a spot alongside 33 other international trailblazers who featured in last September’s issue of US Vogue.
The Forbes list also included eight other Irish stars including actress Jessie Buckley, who was recently nominated for BAFTA’S EE Rising Star award. Rugby player Peter O’mahony and investigative journalist Sally Hayden, who has reported on Boko Haram and Syria’s refugee crisis, also made the selection.
The 21-year-old founder of Free Feet Medical Edel Browne, entrepreneur Kevin Glynn, Beats Medical founder Ciara Clancy and digital start-up chief executive Conall Laverty also featured.
