Dog sniffs out dodgy smokes

A GARDA dog helped seize almost €10,000 worth of illegal smokes yesterday.

Eva helped officers seize more than 11,300 cigarettes, 5kg of tobacco and a car in Cork.

It came following searches, carried out under warrant, of two houses.

Two Irishmen were questioned and investigations are ongoing with a view to prosecution.

These seizures are part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the supply of tobacco products in the shadow economy.
