ELLISON’S ON RED ALERT

CHELTENHAM Gold Cup hope Definitly Red will make an unplanned competitive appearance in the Malcolm Jefferson Memorial Chase at Kelso.

Brian Ellison’s stable star finished sixth behind Native River in the blue riband last March, and is unbeaten in two starts so far this season.

Ellison said: “It wasn’t the plan to run him but Captain Redbeard is the only other runner, so he should get a good school round.“
