Sancho is upstaged in the end

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA @Adrianjkajumba

TOTTENHAM have been trying to get their hands on Jadon Sancho for some time.

They first tried to get him included in the 2017 deal that saw Kyle Walker leave Spurs for Manchester City.

He eluded them again when he eventually left City that summer for Dortmund.

And at times he proved just as hard to pin down during his return to England and his home city last night.

But by the end of the evening, Mauricio Pochettino’s men had a firm grip on this tie thanks to dramatic late goals from Jan Vertonghen and Fernando Llorente to add to an opener by Heung-min Son.

All eyes were on the Three Lions starlet (left), who has been deservedly hyped after lighting up the Bundesliga.

For 20 minutes or so, Spurs and Vertonghen might have thought they finally had their man.

Then Sancho started to warm up, tucked into the right channel and drove at Spurs’ defence.

With his quick feet and effortless body swerves Sancho gets fans on the edge of their seats and gives defenders nightmares.

One run by the Londoner had Davinson Sanchez turning this way and that in sheer panic.

Another saw him jink his way past two Spurs players to help Dortmund carve out another chance.

His importance was underlined by the fact he was so often Dortmund’s out ball, used much more than Chelsea-bound Christian Pulisic on the opposite flank.

The Germans will pray Sancho can deliver in Dortmund on March 5.
