Rules eliminate a licence to kill
LEARNER drivers are being unfairly treated, claims Michael Healy-rae.
According to recent Garda figures, 337 vehicles have been taken since new laws were introduced for unaccompanied motorists at the end of December.
Mr Healy-rae said: “This is criminalising young people. It’s totally unfair.”
While the Kerry TD has a point, the law is in place to keep everybody using the roads safe.
But it should spur learner drivers to get their full licence as soon as they can.
A few extra months of inconvenience is insignificant – especially if it helps to save lives.
