Oz police hunt scam gang led by Irishman

POLICE in Australia are hunting for a gang led by a man with “a very strong Irish accent” who scammed an elderly pensioner of €5,000.

A 79-year-old woman from Sydney handed over the cash to the men who cleaned her gutters and told her she needed extensive roof repairs.

Police warned they took her cash and fled without doing any work in what they have branded a scam.

They added: “If anyone knocks offering to do work in, on or about your home, especially if they’re demanding cash up front, politely decline and please contact us.”
