Simon Delaney IRISH actor Simon Delaney has said the uncertainty of finding work can be “terrifying”.

The Weekend AM presenter admitted he’s glad to have his regular TV gig as security.

The 48-year-old said: “I’m 20 years now acting professionally for a living and there’s more hard times than good times.

“You can go from big highs like walking the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival to not having work for five months.

“So you just have to get on with it and deal with it but that’s also why you have to diversity.

“It’s a job and four kids and a mortgage is a great motivation to get out of bed every morning, so that’s what keeps me going but it is terrifying.

“As a freelance actor, the one challenge you have in my business is irregularity of work so to have something like Weekend AM, it’s fantastic for me and it’s not even that much of a time commitment.”

Simon admitted his dream would be to see his name in lights in New York.

He added: “I’d love to appear on Broadway, I have done the West End but Broadway is the dream so I’m working on the bucket list.”

■ Simon will host Now You See Me with Blathnaid Treacy at 7.30pm on Monday on RTE One. THE thick eyebrows are a major clue when it comes to identifying this rising name in the modelling world.

Oasis star Liam Gallagher, 46, has clearly passed on his defining features to 19-year-old son Lennon.

The model, whose mum is actress Patsy Kensit, took to the catwalk at Central Saint Martins London Fashion Week MA Show in a knitted shirt and tie.

We doubt his dad, who created the menswear label Pretty Green, will be swapping his parka for the combo... Patsy Kensit with her ex Liam Gallagher Declan Rice playing for Ireland SOCCER star Declan Rice has been subjected to vile death threats after leaving Ireland behind to change his international allegiance to England.

The West Ham player announced this week he was switching sides after months of deliberation, admitting in a lengthy statement on social media that the decision was an “extremely difficult” one.

But he was then at the centre of shocking taunts, with some fans reminding the young midfielder of when he kissed the Ireland crest during one appearance.

One tweeted: “We’re gonna have a party... when Declan Rice dies.”

Another added: “I hope he dies a very very painful death this evening.”

The 20-year-old shot to prominence in 2017 and has been a mainstay with his London club and could earn a place in Gareth Southgate’s next squad.

Rice said: “This has been an extremely difficult decision and, in all honesty, not one I ever expected to be making at this stage of my career.

“So much has happened, so quickly, in the past couple of years, from progressing through the West Ham United Academy to making my Premier League debut at the age of 18 and then being named in a full international squad just two days later.

“Like so many people around the world, I consider myself to be of mixed nationality. I am a proud Englishman, having been born and raised in London.

“However, I am just as proud of my family’s Irish heritage and my affinity and connection with the country. I have equal respect and love for both England and Ireland and therefore the national team I choose to represent is not a clear-cut, simple selection.

“I fully accept some Irish supporters will be disappointed and everyone has different opinions in regard to the rules around international representation.

“However, I hope people can understand I have made this decision with honesty, integrity and the full support of my family.”
