5th century tippling tip
A MESSAGE encouraging drinking has been found on a 1,600-year-old bottle given to a Roman villa lord.
An inscription on the glass reads in both Latin and Greek: “Drink and live many years, good man.”
It was on part of the 5th century bottle discovered at Gijon in northern Spain.
