Woman and man in €700k drug arrests

A WOMAN and a man were arrested yesterday after gardai seized a €700,00 cocaine haul.

Officers discovered the drugs during a house raid near Athlone in Co Westmeath at 7am.

The pair, both in their 20s, were taken to a local Garda station.

They are being detained by officers under the Drug Trafficking Act.

A spokesman said: “At 7am a planned search was conducted at a house in Kilnamanagh by gardai assisted by the Regional Armed Support Unit.

“Cocaine with an estimated street value of up to €700,000 was seized.”
