Ellison’s still going for Gold

TRAINER Brian Ellison is still aiming Definitly Red at the Cheltenham Gold Cup despite his shock defeat in a two-horse race at Kelso yesterday.

The 1-6 shot, having his last prep run before the Festival, lost to Captain Redbeard by two lengths under Danny Cook in the Malcolm Jefferson Memorial Chase.

But Ellison said: “I didn’t want him to have a hard race and Danny just said he got done for a bit of toe. There’ll be no change. We’ll go for the Gold Cup.”
