Adèle Leïla Slimani
Slimani’s bestselling Lullaby was the story of a nanny who murdered the children in her care. Adele is even more of an affront to middle-class morals. She is a sex addict who spends every spare minute cheating on her wealthy husband.
Slimani’s characters are a bit lifeless and there isn’t much of a storyline. But I admired the book’s refusal to be conventional.
