- BY AILBHE DALY

THE body of a woman found in a ditch last month by a dog walker has been identified.

Gardai revealed yesterday they have established the name of the deceased but would not be releasing it due to a family request.

The woman was an English national who had lived in Co Wexford for a number of years.

Gardai said: “The human remains which were found at Ballyandrew, Ferns, on January 7 have been positively identified. No foul play is suspected and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”

A postmortem was carried out by State Pathologist Dr Linda Muldoon.

Officials have not confirmed a timeframe for how long the body had been lying in the ditch.

Residents told of their shock after the discovery of the remains.

Gardai appealed for anyone with information about the investigation to come forward.
