€30m cancer charity boost for research

THE Irish Cancer Society has revealed €30million will be invested in research in the decade up to 2020.

Yesterday, it thanked the public for vital donations and called for support on Daffodil Day, March 22.

At launch of the charity’s 2019 Research Plan, chief Averil Power said: “This decade has broken all records for cancer research in Ireland.

“The Irish Cancer Society has invested more in life-saving research than before.

“In 2019 we intend to invest €2.3million.”
