Galway Races on to a winner for 150th year

IRELAND’S most famous racing festival is planning a special celebration to mark its 150th birthday.

Galway Races chiefs are calling on the public’s help to mark the big event from July 29 to August 4.

The committee is urging people to donate any old pictures or memorabilia that helps to capture the rich heritage and culture of the iconic meeting.

General manager Michael Moloney said: “So many people have supported the Galway racecourse over the years, so there are probably a lot of people out there with good stories to tell and pictures to show.”
