Italy team loses 20-0
ITALIAN third division side Pro Piacenza lost 20-0 yesterday after taking to the pitch with only seven players.
All of those in action against Cuneo were aged between 16 and 19 and they did not even have a manager on the sidelines.
Pro Piacenza, in serious financial trouble, have failed to play any of their last three matches and another no-show yesterday would have seen them disqualified from Serie C.
It is claimed the club have failed to pay players – and staff – since August, leading to almost all of them resigning or ripping up their contracts.
A lawyer representing as many as 15 Pro Piacenza players has now filed for bankruptcy amid suggestions the club owes around 500,000 euros.
The Italian Football Federation is set to hold a hearing on March 11.
